Role Description
Position: Field Service Engineer – Electrical & Mechanical
Department: Service / Project Execution
Region: International (mainly Scandinavia, Finland, Baltic States)
Role Purpose
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for the installation, commissioning, and technical performance of asphalt mixing plants. The role covers both electrical and mechanical work. The engineer leads activities on site, coordinates teams, and supports the customer during start-up and operation.
Main Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
- Perform and supervise electrical and mechanical installation according to drawings and project requirements
- Assemble mechanical components (e.g. dryers, burners, conveyors, screens, mixers)
- Install and check electrical systems (cabling, panels, sensors, drives)
- Support and execute plant commissioning (cold and hot commissioning)
- Set up and check control systems (PLC, sensors, drives)
- Perform functional tests, safety checks, and system validation
Site Coordination
- Lead and coordinate electrical and mechanical workers and subcontractors on site
- Ensure work is done safely, on time, and with good quality
- Act as main link between site, project management, and engineering
Troubleshooting & Service
- Find and fix electrical and mechanical problems
- Perform repairs, adjustments, and replacements of components
- Support the customer during start-up and production
- Identify root causes and suggest improvements
Customer Support & Training
- Act as the main technical contact for the customer on site
- Provide basic training for operators and maintenance staff
- Support plant handover and ensure readiness for operation
Documentation & Reporting
- Write service and commissioning reports
- Report technical issues and improvement ideas to internal teams
- Update technical documents if needed
Technical Requirements
- Technical education in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering (or similar)
- Experience in installation, commissioning, or service of industrial plants
- Basic knowledge of:
- Electrical systems, wiring, and control systems (PLC)
- Mechanical systems, drives, gearboxes, and conveyors
- Hydraulics and pneumatics (advantage)
Personal Requirements
- Willingness to travel internationally
- Ability to work independently and in a structured way
- Hands-on mindset and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills
- Confident working with customers on site
- Good English skills (other languages are a plus)
