What You Can Expect:
- Incident Response & Data Privacy Expertise: Play a pivotal role in the end-to-end management of various data privacy-relevant incidents. This includes assisting in the collection, processing, and analysis/review of Electronically Stored Information (ESI) while strictly adhering to federal, corporate, and data protection rules across diverse international jurisdictions.
- Cross-Functional Coordination & Communication: Act as a central point for coordination during major incidents, expertly liaising and collaborating with diverse stakeholders including Legal, Business Units, IT/Tech teams, and the internal Data Privacy Organization. You will support the development of appropriate technical countermeasures and ensure their coordinated implementation.
- Critical Communications & Reporting: Take ownership of crafting and coordinating essential communications related to data privacy incidents, both internally and externally. This includes developing clear, concise, and compliant reports, presentations, internal newsletters, and articles for various communication channels and committees.
- Regulatory Compliance & Documentation: Ensure meticulous compliance with information and reporting obligations to data protection authorities and and assist in responding to inquiries from authorities and/or affected individuals. You will support the Data Privacy Organization in maintaining comprehensive and compliant documentation of all data privacy incidents.
- eDiscovery Team Collaboration: Partner closely with the eDiscovery team, lending your expertise to cases and ensuring seamless integration of incident response data handling with broader e-discovery requirements.
- Proactive Engagement: Contribute to proactive data privacy awareness and education initiatives through clear communication and collaboration.
Requirements of the Position:
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Law (with a technical focus), Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: International e-Discovery, Data Protection, Data Privacy, or Cyber Incident Response.
- Demonstrated experience in a role requiring significant cross-functional coordination and high-stakes communication, particularly during incidents or complex investigations.
- Technical & Legal Acumen:
- Proven experience with professional e-Discovery software (e.g., OpenText™ Axcelerate™, Relativity, Ringtail, NUIX, etc.) for data preservation, processing, review, and analysis.
- Above-average knowledge of global data protection laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and legal frameworks/obligations related to e-Discovery and incident response. A genuine passion for data protection is essential.
- Exceptional Communication Skills:
- Superior verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex technical and legal information into clear, actionable, and audience-appropriate language for diverse stakeholders (technical teams, legal counsel, business leaders, external parties).
- Demonstrated experience in preparing professional reports, presentations, and communication materials.
- Organizational & Interpersonal Skills:
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Superior interpersonal and team-working skills, with a proven ability to interact and cooperate effectively in interdisciplinary and international groups.
- Strong initiative in problem-solving and completing assignments.
- Mindset: Self-motivated, proactive, adaptable, and eager to quickly learn new software, procedures, and evolving regulatory landscapes. A natural inclination for coordination and fostering collaboration is key.
- Desirable Certifications: Certifications in e-Discovery (e.g., ACEDS), data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM), or incident response (e.g., GCIH, CySA+).
