Our client is a leading engineering and construction group providing integrated services in the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings, infrastructure, and industrial facilities in West Africa. The company delivers large, complex projects to high performance and quality standards through a network of subsidiaries and specialized departments. To strengthen its operations, the company is seeking a motivated and experienced Workshop Supervisor – Earth Moving Equipment (m/f/x) to join its plant and equipment function.

Role Overview

As a Workshop Supervisor within the Plant & Equipment Department, you will play a key operational role in ensuring the efficient running of the workshop. You will supervise day-to-day maintenance and repair activities, coordinate technicians and resources, ensure work is carried out in line with technical standards and safety requirements, and help secure the reliable availability of the equipment fleet. You will use your hands-on technical expertise and practical understanding of machinery to ensure high-quality execution of all workshop tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of repair and maintenance activities for a diverse fleet of earth moving and heavy construction equipment (e.g. excavators, wheel loaders, dozers, graders from leading OEMs).
  • Allocate tasks and coordinate technicians, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of all workshop activities.
  • Perform and guide troubleshooting and fault diagnosis, identifying effective and sustainable technical solutions.
  • Oversee final inspections and quality checks to ensure all repairs meet technical and safety standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of maintenance documentation, job cards, and reports while keeping workflows organized and efficient.
  • Mentor, support, and develop workshop staff, fostering continuous learning and technical excellence.

Candidate Profile

  • Diploma or technical certificate in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or a comparable qualification.
  • 5–8 years of hands-on experience in maintenance and repair of heavy/earth moving equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and power systems, including fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Solid understanding of workshop processes, safety standards, and the use of diagnostic tools.
  • Proven experience in leading and coordinating a team in a workshop or maintenance environment, with strong communication skills.
  • Flexible, solution-oriented mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven setting.
  • Confident English language skills (approximately B2/C1 level); additional language skills are an advantage.
