250 Years of Freedom — A Milestone for Humanity

Independence Day, to me, illustrates in the most profound way just how young the term “United States of America” truly is — and yet how immeasurable its impact has been on the course of human history. Two hundred and fifty years may seem like a brief moment in the vast arc of prehistoric time and evolutionary theory, but in the story of human civilization, it represents a revolution of values, courage, and vision.
As a non-American, I cannot fully fathom the depth of meaning this day holds for one of the world’s greatest nations — great not only in size and population, but above all in its values and its humanity. What must it have felt like, in 1776, to finally break free from the chains of colonial rule and declare to the world: We are free. We are sovereign. We are ourselves.
This day is far more than a national holiday. It is the commemoration of a moment that gave birth to a new self-confidence — not just for a nation, but for the idea of freedom itself.
I am Austrian, as many of you know. Austria, too, celebrates its own Independence Day — on October 26th each year — commemorating the signing of the Austrian State Treaty in 1955 and the declaration of neutrality that followed the withdrawal of occupying forces after World War II. It was Austria’s own moment of reclaiming sovereignty.
This shared experience of liberation — across different nations, different eras, different circumstances — reminds us that the longing for freedom is one of the most universal and enduring forces in human history.
And so, on this 250th anniversary of American independence, I find myself reflecting not only on what was achieved in 1776, but on what that achievement continues to mean for the world today. A quarter of a millennium of democracy, resilience, and reinvention. That is not a small thing. That is extraordinary.
Beyond its precise historical significance, ‘independence’ is also our credo at ISG.
In an era of accelerating globalization and pluralistic societies, togetherness and cooperation have never been more vital. And yet, it is precisely the combination of individual freedom and collective strength that defines us — as people, as teams, and as the ISG-Group.
Independence and entrepreneurship, lived simultaneously with global connectedness and shared purpose: this is not a contradiction. It is our philosophy. It is what makes ISG not merely a company, but a community of free-thinking, globally minded professionals who choose to build something greater together.
The United States of America, in its 250 years, has embodied this very tension — and turned it into a strength. So have we
As human beings, we are granted only a finite time on this remarkable surface we call Earth. And in that time, it matters — deeply — how we choose to spend it, and with whom.
Without diminishing the sovereignty of the individual or the dignity of nations, I believe we must remind ourselves, again and again, that it is only through a unifying approach — through genuine connection across cultures, perspectives, and borders — that something resembling ‘infinity’ becomes possible. The eternal continuation of our shared values. The hope that what we build today will outlast us.
It is this spark — this invisible current between people who dare to think beyond themselves — that makes hearts beat faster.
In my daily work alongside our team in the United States, I witness this truth every day. It is precisely the small but significant differences — in opinion, in perspective, in background — that generate the energy of true collaboration. These are the moments that create not just results, but meaning. Not just success, but joy.

Emotion, guided by reason and humanity, can achieve things we can only dream of. Today, I wish our
esteemed colleagues and their families in the United States health, joy, and deep fulfillment. Let us
observe this day with reverence — and celebrate it with all the gratitude it deserves. Remembering all the
sacrifices and hardships that this freedom, and this extraordinary value system, demanded of those who
came before us.
On this 250th anniversary, we honor not only a nation, but an idea — one that continues to inspire the
world.
